Yoshiko Ikuma - クラシックはおいしい -

I first realized the beauty of classical music when I was in the 5th grade. My father liked classical music and he had an extensive collection of records. One day during my summer break he happened to be playing Beethoven’s “Pastoral Symphony” (Symphony No.6), played by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Bruno Walter. I was outside in the yard when I heard it. It was an old record so the sound was raspy, but it transmitted the beautiful surroundings of the Vienna city outskirts to my ears. I decided then and there that some day I would visit the place where this music had been written.

There are various ways that people are introduced to classical music. In my case I learned piano as a child and therefore was introduced through piano pieces. But as I discovered other music I became more and more enthralled by the delights of this profound and unfathomable world. These days, not a day goes by that I do not listen to a piece of classical music. It is almost like a close friend to me. And the reason that I started this web site is because I want more people to know about this wonderful and amazing friend of mine.

On the blog, I plan to upload various kinds of information that I acquire and also let you know about daily things that happen to me. In the “Interests” sections of my web site, I put the focus on cooking and photography. They are both linked to classical music, so please enjoy them along with music. Classical music has the power to offer you blissful moments, relieve your stress, and wash away your worries. So let’s take a brief moment to enjoy its joyful experience.
